Description

Our Interventional Cardiology Service operates two dedicated cardiaccatheterisation laboratories, performing approximately 900 coronaryinterventions and 1,800 angiograms annually.

It provides a 24/7 primary PCI service for acute ST-elevation myocardialinfarction (STEMI) across the region and supports a structural heartdisease program.

The service also includes simple and complex cardiac device implantationand follow-up care.

The department has offered comprehensive clinical cardiac electrophysiologyservices, including complex ablation procedures, since April 2019.A dedicated electrophysiology catheter lab was opened in 2024 to supportthis growing service.

The Echocardiography Unit performs over 4,000 studies annually, includingtransoesophageal and stress echocardiography, with emergency servicesavailable.

A Cardiac CT program, launched in 2017 in collaboration with the Departmentof Radiology, further enhances diagnostic capabilities.





These capabilities position the ACT as a tertiary referral hub foradvanced cardiac diagnostics and interventions.

The position holder is expected to operate within the Public SectorManagement Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct and theprofessional requirements specified by the appointee’s Specialist College.

The preferred candidate maybe considered for a conjoint position in ANUat an academic level commensurate with the candidate’s qualificationsand experience.
