Referment is working with a global options market maker to hire a Senior Trader for its proprietary trading team in Sydney. The team develops and executes proprietary strategies across global listed derivatives markets, working collaboratively with Risk, Technology, Operations and Finance to deliver sustainable trading performance.

The Role

You will develop, implement and manage a proprietary trading strategy, with accountability for trading performance, portfolio risk and model development. Working closely with Risk, Technology, Operations and Finance, you will help establish the infrastructure, controls and processes required to support the strategy and its ongoing success. You will manage portfolio risk and trading performance within approved risk limits and capital parameters; develop and enhance pricing models, volatility analytics and execution methodologies to support trading decisions; design, implement and continuously improve the strategy's risk management framework; monitor portfolio performance and prepare transparent P&L; attribution and risk reporting; identify opportunities to enhance and expand trading strategies across markets, products and asset classes; and contribute to the ongoing development of the firm's proprietary trading capability and broader trading initiatives.

What We're Looking For

- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) trading listed derivatives within a proprietary trading firm, market maker, hedge fund or investment bank
- A demonstrable,



multi-year track record developing and managing profitable proprietary strategies with consistent, verifiable risk-adjusted performance
- Robust knowledge of listed derivatives markets, pricing methodologies and portfolio risk
- Strong quantitative and analytical capability, underpinned by a postgraduate degree in mathematics, finance or another quantitative discipline (or equivalent), including experience developing and applying quantitative trading models
- A disciplined approach to portfolio risk management, margin management and hedging strategies, and excellent commercial judgement and decision-making in fast-paced trading environments
- Experience running a trading book, pod or desk with sole accountability for P&L; and risk — for example at a multi-manager platform, relative value fund or as head of an options trading desk
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate trading strategies and risk exposures, and a collaborative approach across Trading, Risk, Technology and Operations

Relevant Desirable Experience

- Experience using Python or similar analytical tools for research and model development
- Experience in Asia-Pacific derivatives markets and familiarity with regional exchanges and trading sessions
