- Supporting complex physical and mobility needs, including safe manual handling and hoist transfers.
- Recognising and responding appropriately to behaviours of concern.
- Following individual behaviour support plans and established support strategies.
- Encouraging meaningful engagement, social interaction and enjoyable daily activities.
- Maintaining accurate shift notes, including observations and behaviour documentation.
- Working collaboratively with the participant, their family, therapists and wider support team.

- Patient and understanding – able to remain calm, reassuring and supportive during challenging situations.
- Fun, bubbly and engaging – someone who brings positive energy, enjoys a laugh and can make everyday activities enjoyable.
- Experienced and confident – understands behaviours of concern, potential triggers,

de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support.
- Compassionate and respectful – genuinely passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred care.
- Reliable and consistent – understands the importance of routine, familiarity and building trusting relationships.
- Observant and proactive – able to recognise changes in behaviour, communication and support needs.

Experience & Requirements

Highly Desirable:

- Previous experience supporting individuals with quadriplegic cerebral palsy.
- Experience working with complex physical disabilities and high support needs.
- Demonstrated understanding of positive behaviour support and behaviours of concern.
- Experience with hoist transfers, manual handling and personal care.
- Experience implementing individualised support and behaviour support plans.

Essential:

- Previous experience as a Disability Support Worker, particularly in complex care or behaviour support.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Working With Children Check, where required.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- A genuine commitment to reliability, consistency and participant wellbeing.

Relevant qualifications in Individual Support or Disability, along with current First Aid and CPR certification, will be highly regarded.
