About the role

You will be the technical anchor of the manufacturing operation from day one. Working directly with the founder, you will lead the design and specification of the manufacturing process, equipment specification, vendor selection, procurement, installation and commissioning, facility design input working with external architects and consultants, development of the HACCP food safety plan, preparation for and achievement of AS 5812 certification, ingredient sourcing, supplier qualification, and approved supplier program setup, batch record design, process validation, and quality assurance systems, training of production team as it grows, and day-to-day production management once the facility is operational. This is a build role where you will be designing the manufacturing operation from a clean sheet, then running it once it is live.

Key responsibilities

- Design and specification of manufacturing process
- Equipment specification, vendor selection, procurement, installation and commissioning

About you

- Degree in food science, food technology, nutrition, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 5 years experience in food or pet food manufacturing
- Direct experience with HACCP and AS 5812 or equivalent food safety systems
- Robust understanding of the Australian food and pet food regulatory framework
- Australian working rights
- Direct experience with extrusion, baking, or soft chew production processes (highly regarded)
- Experience with functional ingredients and live cultures (probiotics) (highly regarded)
- Experience specifying and commissioning food manufacturing equipment (highly regarded)
- Existing relationships with Australian food equipment vendors and ingredient suppliers (highly regarded)
- Experience taking a new manufacturing operation from build to production (highly regarded)

About us

Biome Bites is an Australian pre-launch premium pet wellness brand, founded by Aviya Ronen (BAnimSc), preparing for market launch in Q3/Q4 2027. We are establishing our own manufacturing facility in Sydney to produce a nine-SKU range of functional soft chew dog treats across multiple life stages and dog sizes. The business has a defined 14-month path to launch and is building something genuinely new in the Australian premium pet wellness category.
