ICMediaHouse is looking for an experienced camera operator / filmmaker who understands that great production is not about simply capturing large amounts of footage. It is about understanding the story, connecting with people and capturing the right material to bring that story to life.

We produce content across corporate, technology, construction, lifestyle, product, events, social media and podcasts.

We need someone who can shoot with intent, record exceptional audio, work confidently with people and understand how everything they capture will ultimately come together in the edit.

Camera & Visual Storytelling

We ask for someone with who can capture the story, not just the footage

- strong professional camera skills and be comfortable working independently or as part of a small production team.
- thorough understanding of composition, lighting, movement, coverage and visual storytelling, but importantly, you should shoot with the edit in mind.

You do not need to be an editor, but you do need to understand editing well enough to know what an editor requires.
- understanding sequences, continuity, establishing shots, cutaways, interview coverage, transitions, different deliverable lengths and when you have captured enough.

Audio is Essential Audio capability is one of the most important requirements of this position.

We are looking for someone with an excellent practical understanding of professional location sound and be able to take responsibility for capturing clean, usable audio in a variety of environments.

This includes experience with radio microphones, boom and directional microphones, multiple speakers, audio recorders, monitoring, levels,

environmental noise and backup recording.

You should also be confident setting up and recording podcasts and multi-person conversations, including multiple microphones and cameras where required.

Poor audio can destroy otherwise excellent content. We therefore consider sound skills just as important as camera skills.

You Need to Enjoy Working With People A major part of this role is working with real people, not professional presenters or actors.

You could be interviewing a CEO one day, a construction worker the next, followed by a business owner, customer, athlete or member of the community.

We need someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people and talking with them.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable sitting down one-on-one with someone, making them feel relaxed and conducting the interview yourself when required.

That means listening rather than simply reading questions.

You need to recognise an compelling answer, know when to explore it further and be able to draw natural responses from someone who may have little or no experience in front of a camera.

The same applies to podcasts. You should be comfortable helping create a relaxed environment where genuine conversation can develop while still remaining aware of the technical requirements of the production.

Understanding the Complete Production Process

You are not required to edit, but you must understand the complete production workflow.

Understanding what happens after the shoot should influence what you capture during it.

If we're producing a 30-second social film, a 90-second story and a three-minute feature from the same interview, you should understand that each version may require different answers, coverage, cutaways and visual material.

Working With Clients & Changing Situations

Our productions happen in real client environments, so things change.

Locations can become unavailable. Interview times can be shortened. Weather changes. Clients introduce new ideas. People become nervous in front of camera. Access can change without warning.

We need someone who can adapt, communicate and solve problems without losing sight of the story we're there to capture.

Professionalism and personality are therefore just as important as technical ability.

What You'll Need

Professional camera equipment and lenses, strong professional audio equipment and knowledge, appropriate lighting capability, drone capability and equipment, your own vehicle and the ability to travel throughout Sydney and interstate when required.

Minimum Kit:

- Shoot Native .Mov (HD – No current 4k requirement)
- Wide Angle
- Gimble a Bonus
- 24-105mm
- 200-400mm
- Drone (DJI Mavic Minimum)
- Lapel Mic’s & HandHeld Recorder

This role is looking for someone who is organised, reliable, comfortable working independently and capable of representing ICMediaHouse, an ICTechnology brand, professionally in front of clients.
