Head Chef or Cook | Maiala Park Lodge, Mt Glorious | Casual

Maiala Park Lodge is a First Nations owned boutique retreat in D’Aguilar National Park, about 45 minutes from Brisbane. Our guests come to switch off, and the food is a big part of why they remember their stay.

We’re looking for a Head Chef or Cook to lead our kitchen: generous, seasonal, home-style meals, with native ingredients woven in over time. You’ll run breakfast and dinner services set by guest bookings, plan and order for upcoming guests, and work directly with the owners on the seasonal menu and the systems behind it, including recent ideas such as a guest self service menu.

What you’ll do

- Cook and serve breakfast (8-9:30am) and dinner (6-7:30 or 8pm) for groups of up to 20 guests, set the table and clean up after service
- Order, prep and stocktake, contribute to our recipe library, keep it accurate as dishes develop, and cost each recipe
- Run day-to-day food safety and allergen management
- Report monthly on kitchen costs against income, and help us find savings and new income ideas
- Develop the seasonal menu with us each quarter, and photograph new dishes for marketing

What you bring

- Experience cooking for groups and running a kitchen independently
- A genuine love of honest, home-style food,



and an interest in native and bush ingredients (you don’t need to be an expert, we’ll learn together)
- Organisation, good systems thinking and strong attention to detail, with comfort using Excel
- A trade qualification or Food Safety Supervisor certificate is welcome but not essential. Chefs and experienced cooks are equally encouraged to apply.

What we offer

- $47.04 per hour including super ($42.00 plus 12% super), with loadings for evenings, weekends and public holiday shifts
- Casual, averaging 15 hours per week (varies month to month), with a three-hour minimum shift. Shorter services are topped up with paid admin time, set around your availability.
