About the Role- Health Safety & Wellbeing Manager

At STC, we’re entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation, and we’re looking for a Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Manager to help turn our HSW vision into everyday practice.

This is a rare opportunity to utilise and further develop your full HSW skill set, from strategist to practitioner. We’ve laid the foundations of our HSW journey and are looking to draw on your expertise, industry knowledge and practical insights to bring STC’s vision to life. Applying the lessons you’ve learned throughout your career, you’ll translate strategy into action, develop and embed initiatives that support the wellbeing of our people and strengthen organisational capability.

If you’re energised by the opportunity to work in an organisation that genuinely seeks to make a difference, rather than simply demonstrate compliance or maintain the status quo, this role offers the autonomy, ownership and organisational support to make a meaningful contribution. As our dedicated HSW specialist, you'll enjoy significant autonomy and ownership, leading organisational initiatives and partnering with leaders across the business to embed a contemporary approach to health, safety and wellbeing.

You’ll play a strategic organisation‑wide leadership role, driving the implementation and continuous improvement of our HSW framework and ensuring health, safety and wellbeing inclusive of psychosocial risk management are reflected in our decisions, relationships, and everyday ways of working. Drawing on your experience and practical approach, you will build capability, influence leaders and foster a culture of accountability and care that supports both our people and organisational success.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of STC’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy, framework, policies and procedures.
- Drive the delivery and ongoing evolution of our Psychological Health Strategy, ensuring a proactive and integrated approach to wellbeing.
- Identify, assess and mitigate physical and psychosocial hazards, promoting safe and healthy workplaces for all employees.
- Design and deliver initiatives, education and training programs that build organisational capability and strengthen our culture of care.
- Build strong relationships with leaders and managers to embed health, safety and wellbeing considerations into decision-making, workforce planning and organisational change.
- Monitor HSW performance, compliance and emerging risks, providing meaningful insights and advice to leaders to support continuous improvement.

- Partner with the People & Organisational Development team to support workplace adjustments, injury management and return-to-work outcomes.

Important Relationships:

You'll work closely with the STC Executive Leadership Team, Senior leaders and the People & Organisational Development team to embed a positive culture of health, safety and wellbeing across the organisation. You'll also build trusted relationships with employees, external providers and regulatory bodies to support compliance, strengthen wellbeing outcomes and drive best practice.

About You:

You’re a self‑driven and practical HSW leader who thrives in environments where you can take initiative, create structure and drive meaningful change. You combine strong planning, prioritisation and stakeholder management skills with the adaptability to navigate a dynamic, evolving organisation. You thrive in autonomous environments and are confident leading initiatives from concept to implementation, bringing stakeholders with you along the way.

Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, you build trusted relationships quickly, influence effectively and deliver positive outcomes, even in complex or ambiguous situations. Whether presenting to the Board, coaching leaders or working directly with teams to identify, assess and mitigate workplace hazards, you bring a practical and solutions-focused approach to improving health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.

Passionate about physical and psychological health and wellbeing, you bring a collaborative and inclusive approach to your work. You model positive, safe behaviours and actively promote the health, safety and wellbeing of your colleagues, and those impacted by STC’s work. Through your emotional intelligence, self‑awareness, and a commitment to personal growth, you foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect, recognising different experiences as fundamental to a healthy and energised workplace where people feel safe, supported and empowered to thrive.

Most importantly, you're excited by the opportunity to shape the next phase of our HSW journey by delivering fit for purpose initiatives that align with our vision and strategic objectives and intentionally strengthen our culture.

Qualifications & Professional Experience

- A diploma or tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or a related discipline,

together with 5-8 years' experience leading Health, Safety and Wellbeing programs, frameworks and initiatives within a complex organisational environment.
- Qualifications or further study in psychological health will be highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of Victorian OHS legislation, psychosocial hazards and contemporary wellbeing practices.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, build organisational capability and drive positive cultural change.
- Demonstrated success and experience embedding integrated physical safety, psychological health and wellbeing initiatives that drive sustainable organisational outcomes.
- Experience using data, insights and risk management approaches to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
