About the opportunity

This is a brand-new HR Manager role, reporting directly to the Group CEO of a growing, private equity–backed group. After a busy few years of change, the business has settled and is ready to invest properly in its people. This is a place where HR has a genuine seat at the table and is seen as central to where the business is heading. They’re looking for someone to lead HR across the group, rebuild the team and help create a workplace people enjoy being part of.

You’ll have the CEO’s full support and plenty of room to make the role your own.

About the Role

You’ll be the person leaders turn to, and your advice will be listened to and acted on. You’ll begin by getting to know the teams, asking valuable questions and working out what’s really going on. Then you’ll get stuck in.

Day to day, you’ll:

- Partner with leaders across all three divisions on people, culture and the decisions that shape the business
- Put the new strategy into everyday practice by creating an HR calendar, running town halls and launching culture initiatives that bring people together
- Rebuild recruitment and bring great, diverse people into the business
- Introduce performance reviews that actually help people grow, and support leaders through the harder conversations
- Look after the award-based ER landscape (no enterprise agreements or unions), with an experienced external HR consultant in your corner for the tricky stuff
- Oversee in-house payroll through ADP
- Help shape how the business is structured as it continues to grow

The human we’re looking for

You love HR, and you’re ready for your next step. You’ve got the experience to back it up and the energy to make things happen. You can see the bigger picture,

and you’re just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get the detail right. When something’s not working, you don’t just flag it. You turn up with an idea of how to fix it. You’ll likely bring:

- Solid generalist experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager
- A commercial head, and the confidence to hold your own with a private equity–backed leadership team
- Experience with ER and performance management, handled with fairness and empathy
- A good working knowledge of modern awards and employment agreements (ADP experience is a nice bonus)
- A natural warmth that helps people trust you quickly, whatever team they’re in
- Overseen a payroll function would be advantageous

You don’t need to tick every box. For this team, who you are as a human matters just as much as what’s on your CV. About the Company

Our client was family-owned for decades and is now private equity–backed. It brings together three businesses: automotive, fitness equipment and activewear. With around 92 people across Melbourne and Queensland, it’s big enough to have real structure and ambition, and small enough that you’ll know everyone’s name.

There’s an entrepreneurial spirit here, and a real appetite to bring more energy, connection and fun back into the office. You’ll be based in a lovely space on Toorak Road, Hawthorn East, working 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
