We are seeking an experienced Java Microservices Developer to join our team on a contract basis in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable Java-based applications and microservices in a secure enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain applications using Java and Spring Boot.

- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.

- Develop secure, scalable, and high-performance backend services.

- Work with databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.

- Implement automated unit and integration testing.

- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, testers, and DevOps teams.

- Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization.

- Use Git and CI/CD tools to support build, deployment, and release processes.

- Follow secure coding practices and government security requirements.





- Work within Agile/Scrum development teams and contribute to technical documentation.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

- Solid hands-on experience in Java development.

- Experience with Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.

- Current Australian Government NV1 security clearance.

- Strong knowledge of REST APIs and API integration.

- Experience with SQL and relational databases.

- Knowledge of Git, Maven/Gradle, and automated testing frameworks.

- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.

- Understanding of secure coding practices and application security.

Desirable Skills

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or private cloud.

- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

- Experience with Kafka or other messaging technologies.

- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

- Experience working on Australian Government or Defence projects.
