About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for laser cutter operation, running the laser cutter day to day and cutting stainless and mild steel for our tradespeople and customers. You'll also provide trade assistant support, assisting welders, fabricators and sheet metal workers with fabrication and installation, both in the workshop and on site. Additionally, you'll handle stores responsibilities including unloading deliveries and handling stock.

Key responsibilities

- Running the laser cutter day to day, cutting stainless and mild steel for our tradespeople and management
- Reading drawings and job sheets to make sure parts are cut to spec
- Carrying out routine and preventative maintenance on the laser cutter and keeping its maintenance records up to date
- Keeping the machine and surrounding area clean, safe and tidy
- Assisting welders, fabricators and sheet metal workers with fabrication and installation, both in the workshop and on site
- Using hand and power tools, forklifts and scissor lifts
- Deburring, finishing and preparing parts for fabrication or dispatch
- Unloading deliveries and handling stock
- Keeping the workshop and yard clean and clear of obstructions
- Completing daily job, material and timesheet reporting

About you

- Previous experience in a workshop,



manufacturing or trade assistant role
- A proactive, hands-on attitude and strong attention to detail
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work on your own or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Willingness to work on site and travel when required
- Advantageous: Laser cutting or CNC operating experience
- Advantageous: Metal fabrication experience
- Advantageous: Basic drafting skills, e.g. creating DXF cut files
- Advantageous: Forklift licence
