The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, high-performing law students who are looking to undertake a clerkship and build practical experience in Tax Law while completing their studies.

As a Law Clerk within our Tax team at McInnes Wilson Lawyers, you will become part of a supportive and collaborative team, receive on-the-job training, and have the opportunity to learn from experienced Solicitors, Senior Associates, Special Counsel and Principals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven student in the who has a genuine commitment to pursuing a career in Tax Law.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

- A genuine and demonstrated interest in tax law, evidenced in your CV through relevant university subjects, research, work or volunteer experience, professional development, extracurricular activities or memberships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent legal research, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- A high level of attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Initiative, curiosity and a willingness to learn
- A professional and client-focused approach

What You Will Be Doing

- Working with the tax law team, your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting solicitors with a range of tax law matters
- Conducting legal research on tax legislation, case law, Australian Taxation Office rulings and guidance
- Preparing research summaries, chronologies and reports
- Drafting correspondence, advice-related materials and supporting documents




- Assisting with file management, matter administration and document preparation
- Preparing briefs and supporting documentation for disputes, reviews or proceedings
- Attending client meetings, conferences and proceedings where appropriate
- Providing general support to practitioners in the conduct of tax matters
