About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly established Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) within Victoria Police and play a key role in shaping and maturing project delivery capability across the organisation.
The EPMO provides enterprise-wide leadership, governance, assurance, and delivery oversight to support the successful execution of Victoria Police's strategic investment portfolio. As the Enterprise Master Scheduler, you will be responsible for establishing and promoting excellence in project and program scheduling across the organisation. The role leads schedule assurance, portfolio reporting and continuous improvement, working closely with the EPMO Director, Project and Program Managers, and other EPMO practice managers to provide an integrated view of delivery performance, risks and dependencies; and enable clear, evidence-based governance and decision-making.
Working closely with project and program teams, you will support the development of integrated delivery plans, facilitate dependency management, conduct regular schedule assurance reviews and portfolio reporting, and assist with schedule recovery activities for initiatives experiencing delivery challenges. You will also play a critical role in improving organisational planning maturity through the establishment of consistent scheduling standards, reporting practices and assurance processes.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced scheduling, planning or project controls professional who enjoys applying an enterprise perspective to complex delivery environments and influencing outcomes through insight, collaboration and effective governance.
Victoria Police encourage applications from people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA communities, recognising that diverse perspectives strengthen outcomes for the community.
Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.
Your duties will include:
- Lead the establishment and continuous improvement of enterprise scheduling standards, practices and controls across projects and programs.
- Provide independent schedule assurance, assessing the quality, integrity and realism of project and program plans and identifying opportunities to improve delivery confidence.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging schedule risks, delivery constraints, dependencies and critical path issues that may impact strategic outcomes.
- Identify and report projects and programs at risk to enterprise governance bodies, providing actionable recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Partner with project and program leaders to develop schedule recovery strategies and "go-to-green" plans for initiatives experiencing delivery challenges.
- Facilitate enterprise planning activities, including dependency management, milestone alignment and integrated delivery planning across multiple projects and programs.
- Lead schedule health checks, planning reviews and assurance activities to strengthen project controls and delivery discipline.
- Provide enterprise-wide reporting,
analysis and insights to support portfolio governance, prioritisation and investment decision-making.
- Collaborate with EPMO practice leads and delivery teams to improve organisational planning maturity and strengthen delivery capability.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by promoting best practice planning, scheduling and project controls across the organisation.
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience in project controls, scheduling, planning or PMO functions within large and complex organisations, supporting portfolios of strategic projects and programs.
- Advanced expertise in schedule development, critical path analysis, dependency management, forecasting, baseline management and schedule optimisation.
- Demonstrated experience conducting schedule assurance activities, health checks and independent reviews, and providing recommendations that improve delivery outcomes.
- Proven ability to identify emerging delivery risks, schedule vulnerabilities and organisational constraints, and effectively communicate their implications to senior stakeholders.
- Experience supporting enterprise governance and executive decision-making through the provision of high-quality planning insights, reporting and performance analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to develop practical schedule recovery strategies and work collaboratively with project teams to address delivery challenges.
- Proven ability to lead and facilitate complex planning workshops, dependency mapping sessions and multi-stakeholder planning activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify trends and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across project teams, executives and governance forums.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional excellence and continuous learning, supported by relevant qualifications, industry certifications and ongoing professional development in planning, scheduling, project controls or project management disciplines.
