Main Tasks – Metal Painter

- Prepare fabricated steel products, beams, frames and metal components for painting by cleaning, grinding, sanding and removing rust, grease and other contaminants.
- Operate industrial spray painting equipment, including conventional and airless spray systems, to apply protective coatings and finishes to metal surfaces.
- Mix and prepare paints, primers, hardeners and thinners according to manufacturer specifications and required mixing ratios.
- Apply primers, epoxy coatings, polyurethane paints and other protective finishes to meet job specifications and quality standards.
- Perform abrasive blasting and other surface preparation activities to ensure proper coating adhesion.
- Read and interpret work orders, technical drawings and coating specifications to determine painting requirements.
- Position, handle, and mask steel components to ensure accurate, productive paint application.
- Monitor coating thickness, surface coverage and drying processes to achieve the required finish.




- Inspect painted surfaces for defects, including uneven coatings, runs, overspray, and imperfections, and carry out corrective work as required.
- Operate, clean, and maintain spray guns, compressors, paint pumps, and other painting equipment, including routine adjustments.
- Identify and report equipment faults, coating defects and production issues to the supervisor.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe handling, storage and disposal of paints, solvents and hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area and ensure painting activities meet production schedules and quality requirements.
- Work cooperatively with welders, fabricators and other production personnel to support steel manufacturing operations.

At least 3 years experience Pay: $79,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
