Established in 1889, Meercroft Care is an autonomous, not-for-profit organisation governed by a Board of Governance. Located in the beautiful Bluff precinct in Devonport overlooking Bass Strait, Meercroft provides excellence in permanent and respite aged care services.

As a 140-bed facility employing approximately 240 staff, we are currently undertaking a significant redevelopment, due for completion in 2027, as we continue to grow and enhance our services.

About the Role

Meercroft Care Inc. is seeking an experienced, reliable and motivated Gardener to join our Services team on a permanent part-time bases, 3 days a week.

In this role, you will help maintain the grounds, gardens and facilities across our aged care facility and Independent Living Units (ILUs), ensuring our residents, visitors and staff enjoy a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

You will undertake a range of gardening, groundskeeping and general maintenance duties, contributing to the presentation, safety and upkeep of our facilities and surrounding areas. The successful applicant will take pride in their work, demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and other members of the Meercroft Care team.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain lawns, gardens and grounds across the facility and ILUs.

- Operate and maintain gardening equipment, tools and machinery.

- Complete general cleaning duties, including windows, gutters and waste bins.

- Maintain clean, safe and organised workshops, sheds and storage areas.





- Monitor gardening and maintenance supplies and assist with contractor projects as required.

- Follow workplace health and safety requirements and organisational policies.

- Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, staff and contractors.

About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Experience in gardening and landscaping

- Practical skills in lawn care and the safe use of gardening equipment.

- The ability to undertake physical work safely.

- Good organisational, communication and teamwork skills.

- A proactive approach and pride in maintaining a safe, well-presented workplace.

- A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing of older people.
