Chicken Coop is seeking an experienced Poultry Butcher Retail Manager to join our team in Belconnen, ACT. This is a full-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to lead our retail operations whilst maintaining the highest standards of poultry butchery. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our retail butcher shop, overseeing staff, ensuring product quality, and delivering exceptional customer service.
This role is crucial to our business success and will allow you to combine your expertise in poultry butchery with retail management skills to drive profitability and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of retail operations, including stock management, inventory control and ordering of poultry products
- Prepare, butcher and display poultry products to the highest food safety and presentation standards
- Lead and supervise retail staff, providing training, scheduling and performance management
- Maintain compliance with all food safety regulations, hygiene standards and local authority requirements
- Deliver exceptional customer service and handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally
- Monitor sales performance, set targets and implement strategies to increase revenue
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised retail setting at all times
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing to optimise margins
- Cash handling and point-of-sale system management
- Develop and execute promotional activities to attract and retain customers
What we're looking for
- Substantial experience working as a qualified poultry butcher with proven expertise in cutting, boning and preparing poultry products
- Demonstrated experience in retail management or supervisory roles within a butchery or food retail environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations and compliance requirements in the meat and poultry industry
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to build loyal customer relationships
- Proficiency with retail point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Current food handling and safety certification or willingness to obtain one
- Physical capability to perform butchery tasks and lift heavy items regularly
