The Pressure Washing Company

Garbutt

Build a career with one of Townsville’s fastest-growing external cleaning businesses.

"You have my dream job!" - It's what we often hear when people read "pressure washing" on our uniforms.

Every day you leave a property looking dramatically better than when you arrived. You work outdoors instead of staring at a screen. You learn specialised skills, operate professional equipment, solve problems & work with your hands. At the end of the day, you can actually see what you’ve accomplished.

Warning - This can be a physically demanding job. You will also work on roof structures.

If you enjoy a challenge and it still sounds appealing, keep reading.

Who are we?

We’re The Pressure Washing Company, now based out of our recent yard in Garbutt. We service Townsville and surrounding areas. Something else we often hear is "I've seen your signs!".

We’re still a young business, we've just ticked over 1 year, and we’ve grown quickly by doing a couple of things exceptionally well:

Delivering quality work & looking after our customers.

That commitment has already helped us become the highest-rated external cleaning business in Townsville on Google.

We don’t compete by being the cheapest.

We compete by delivering a better result, communicating professionally, turning up when we say we will and treating every customer’s property as if it were our own.

Our clients include

- Homeowners
- Major real estate agencies
- Retail businesses
- Hospitality venues
- Industrial facilities
- Commercial property managers
- Body corporates
- Government departments
- Other specialist contractors who bring us in on larger projects

We’re continuing to expand into larger commercial and government work as the business grows, with several large tenders submitted right now. This isn’t a business that’s standing still, and neither will your career.

It's not “just pressure washing.”

People often imagine someone spraying water at concrete all day. The reality is quite different.

We’re restoring properties, solving problems, and protecting expensive assets.

We’re improving first impressions for businesses and we’re helping homeowners prepare their properties for sale.

We’re maintaining multimillion-dollar homes.

We’re cleaning shopping centres and fuel stations before customers arrive, carefully navigating the challenges associated with out-of-hours work.

We’re removing years of mould, dirt, algae and staining from buildings across Townsville.

It’s skilled work that requires judgement, attention to detail and professionalism. This is not just a labouring position and we actively discourage applicants from applying who are seeking that. This role rewards people who are detail focused, prioritise safety, and aim to secure a career with a sustainable growth pathway.

What does a typical day look like?

You’ll normally start your day from our Garbutt depot at 7:15am.

The team loads equipment, completes any final preparation, and heads to the day’s first job. All of the job and customer details for each crew can be found on the ServiceM8 app that we use, on the work phone provided.

Some days you’ll spend the entire day at one large commercial site, other days you may complete several small residential jobs across Townsville. Those days are great for lunch on the beach.

Depending on the schedule, you could be:

- Soft washing a home.
- Cleaning a tiled or Colorbond roof.
- Pressure washing driveways and paths.
- Cleaning shopping centre car parks before/after trading hours.
- Working alongside other contractors on larger commercial projects.
- Restoring concrete around pools and entertainment areas.
- Cleaning industrial buildings.

- Washing building facades.
- Cleaning solar panels.
- Performing equipment maintenance and preparation.

No two days are exactly alike, which is one of the things our team enjoys most. This is a physical job, but certainly not just brute strength.

You will spend most of your day on your feet.

You’ll be outside in Townsville’s climate.

You’ll climb ladders.

You’ll work at heights.

You’ll move equipment around job sites.

You’ll lift hoses and accessories.

That being said, we do invest heavily in equipment that reduces unnecessary physical strain. We actually believe that the easier we can make a task, the better.

We promote a culture where you're able to make suggestions about equipment, methodology, procedures, and we genuinely listen. If we can make changes to help you have a more enjoyable time at work, we will.

Where machinery can replace manual labour, we generally choose machinery.

We’re interested in working smarter, not harder.

Training

You don’t need pressure washing experience. Seriously.

Some of the best people in this industry started with absolutely none.

We’re much more interested in hiring someone with the right attitude than someone who thinks they already know everything.

From day one you’ll begin learning:

- Pressure washing techniques.
- Soft washing systems.
- Roof cleaning.
- Chemical handling.
- Equipment operation.
- Customer communication.
- Site setup.
- Working safely around different building materials.
- Risk management.
- Safe work at heights.
- Equipment maintenance.
- Job planning.
- Time management.

You’ll also receive access to our growing internal training library containing videos, procedures and practical guides that you can revisit whenever needed. If you've made it this far, please mention "I actually read the " in your application, it'll help.

Learning doesn’t stop after your first week.

We’re constantly improving our systems and expect our team to improve with them.

Safety isn’t negotiable.

You’ll work at heights.

You’ll use specialised high pressure equipment.

You’ll handle cleaning chemicals.

You’ll work around customers, vehicle traffic and occupied properties.

Because of that, safety isn’t something we “tick off.” It’s how we operate and it’s ongoing.

We’ll provide the equipment.

We’ll provide the training.

We’ll pay for relevant certifications.

What we expect from you is a willingness to follow procedures and look after yourself and your teammates.

The type of person we’re looking for

We’re not looking for someone who’s perfect, we’re looking for someone who cares. We're looking for someone who notices the little things and doesn’t walk past a problem thinking, “someone else will deal with it.”

We're after the person who naturally asks,

“Can I make this better?”

You’ll probably do well here if you:

- Take pride in your work.
- Communicate confidently with customers.
- Can think independently.
- Like solving problems.
- Enjoy learning.
- Turn up on time.
- Stay organised.
- Accept feedback professionally.
- Care about safety.
- Enjoy working as part of a team.

What won’t work here Every workplace isn’t for everyone.

You’ll probably struggle here if you:

- Need someone standing over you every minute.
- Cut corners.

- Ignore safety procedures.
- Leave equipment dirty because “someone else will clean it.”
- Treat customer property carelessly.
- Think “good enough” is good enough.

We’re building a reputation that’s taken countless hours to earn. Every member of the team contributes to protecting it.

How you’ll be managed

Our management style is straightforward.

We’ll support you.

We’ll train you.

We’ll answer any and all questions.

We’ll invest in your development.

We’ll also be honest with you.

If you’re doing well, we’ll tell you.

If something needs improving, we’ll tell you that too.

Constructive feedback isn’t criticism, it’s how people improve. In the same breath, we also invite constructive feedback from our staff if there’s something we could be doing better.

Likewise, if you’re putting in genuine effort, showing initiative and taking ownership, it won’t go unnoticed.

We reward performance.

Pay and career progression

This is a full-time position.

Applicants new to the industry will generally commence on $30 per hour.

As your skills develop and you begin leading jobs independently, there is a genuine pathway to become a Team Leader earning $40 per hour.

For the right person, that progression can happen surprisingly quickly.

We’re interested in building leaders, not just churning through employees. In fact we'd rather a position sits vacant than hire the wrong person for the business.

As the company continues growing, there will be increasing opportunities for people who demonstrate leadership, professionalism and reliability.

There isn’t a ceiling here. In theory you could end up managing a location.

Your growth will largely depend on your attitude, capability and willingness to take responsibility.

Hours

Typical hours are

7:15am–3:15pm Monday to Friday

There are also opportunities for overtime, weekend work and occasional night work depending on our workload.

These additional hours are available but are not mandatory. We do appreciate people being willing to stay and complete the job if it's running over schedule.

What you’ll need

Essential

- Current driver’s licence (manual preferred but not essential)
- Good communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working outdoors
- Comfortable working at heights
- Reliable transport to and from our Garbutt depot
- Professional attitude
- Willingness to learn

A Working With Children Check and Police Check will be required after employment. You don’t need to obtain one before applying. Where could this role take you?

We don’t see this as simply filling another position. We’d actually like all staff to progress and be promoted.

We’re building a business designed to be around for many years and scale to several locations nationwide.

The people who join us now have the opportunity to grow alongside it.

Today’s technician can become tomorrow’s Team Leader.

Tomorrow’s Team Leader could become an Operations Manager.

As we continue expanding into larger commercial projects and government contracts, we’ll need people capable of leading teams, training new staff and helping shape the future of the business.

If you’re ambitious, you’ll have room to grow.

A final note.

Skills can be taught, attitude can’t.

If you’re reliable, hardworking, genuinely care about doing quality work and want to build a long-term career with a growing Townsville business, we’d love to hear from you.

Tell us about yourself.

Tell us what you’ve done.

More importantly, tell us why you think you’d be a great fit for our team.

We look forward to meeting you.
