Smarter Power Solutions (SPS), now operating as a DNV company, is part of a global centre of excellence for grid-connection engineering based in Australia. The team works with developers, OEMs, financiers, and network service providers to deliver advisory services across feasibility studies, grid-connection modelling, and generator performance standards. SPS supports utility-scale generation projects with registration, commissioning, technical due diligence, and compliance assessments.
The company also advises networks and government bodies on system stability, power quality, market design, and policy implementation to enable a protected and sustainable energy transition. Joining SPS offers exposure to complex power sector challenges and collaboration with specialists in the National Electricity Market.
Role Description
As a Python Developer at Smarter Power Solutions, you will work full time in Melbourne, VIC, developing and maintaining software tools that support grid-connection engineering and power system analysis (PSSe, PSCAD, PowerFactory).
You will design, implement, and optimize Python-based applications and scripts that automate modelling workflows, data processing,
and reporting for utility-scale generation and network advisory projects.
Daily activities include writing clean, well-documented code, implementing object-oriented designs, troubleshooting and debugging issues, and contributing to code reviews and continuous improvement of the development toolkit.
You will collaborate with engineers to translate technical requirements into robust, scalable software solutions, integrating databases and back-end services where needed. You will need to understand the teams challenges, provide support to resolve issues and opportunities to improve and develop user guides and training videos.
You will also support the deployment, testing, and refinement of internal software products to ensure accuracy, performance, and maintainability.
