About the Organisation
Our client is a high-profile, purpose-led organisation operating within a complex and highly regulated environment.
With a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation and organisational capability, the organisation values different thinking and encourages its people to challenge, improve and evolve how things are done.
This is an prospect to contribute to a significant organisation-wide initiative with strong executive sponsorship and support.
About the Role
Our client is implementing a centralised, streamlined and fit-for-purpose Policy Governance Framework across the organisation. The framework is already well progressed, and this role will take it from design into practical implementation, adoption and business-as-usual operations.
Working within the Compliance function, you will collaborate across Compliance, Risk, Legal, Technology, project and change teams, partnering with policy owners and subject matter experts to uplift the organisation’s internal corporate policy landscape.
Importantly, this is not a government or public policy development role. The focus is internal corporate policy governance, risk and compliance — establishing consistent standards for how policies are structured, governed, maintained and applied.
You will:
- Review and uplift existing policies, procedures and supporting instruments against the new framework.
- Develop practical templates, standards, guidance and resources to support consistent application.
- Partner with policy owners and SMEs to improve policy quality, consistency and usability.
- Establish quality assurance processes and provide practical policy governance advice.
- Support communications, training and change activities to embed the framework into business as usual.
- Consider how existing technology, including AI, can improve policy development, governance and maintenance.
- Coordinate multiple stakeholders, priorities and deliverables to maintain momentum and achieve key milestones.
About You
You will bring demonstrated experience implementing a corporate policy governance framework or leading a significant governance uplift within a complex organisation.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have taken a governance framework from design into practical business implementation, rather than those whose experience is primarily policy writing or BAU policy management.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience across policy governance, framework implementation, risk/compliance and organisational change.
- Strong experience engaging multiple policy owners and SMEs and influencing without direct authority.
- Experience developing practical governance tools, including templates, standards, guidance, training and supporting processes.
- The ability to translate complex governance requirements into clear, usable solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management, organisational skills and attention to detail.
- An understanding of how technology and AI can improve policy consistency, governance and efficiency.
Experience within investment management, superannuation, banking, insurance, financial services or another highly regulated environment will be advantageous; however, demonstrated governance implementation capability is more important than a specific industry background.
Formal tertiary qualifications in business, commerce or law are preferred; however, substantial relevant professional experience will also be considered.
The Opportunity
This is a 0.8 FTE engagement, working four days per week, commencing as soon as possible and currently contracted through to 30 June 2027, with potential for the broader program to continue beyond this date.
The indicative daily rate is approximately $620–$700 + superannuation, depending on experience.
You will join a highly collegiate environment and contribute to an initiative with genuine organisational sponsorship, helping establish a policy governance approach that will become embedded into ongoing operations.
