IAS Fine Art Logistics Pty Ltd - Georges Hall NSW
A painting on loan from an overseas museum. A large sculpture heading to a regional gallery. A private collection moving across the country. Each one needs packing and a crate built exactly for it. You’ll lead the team that designs and builds them.
Never worked with art? That’s okay. If you’ve run a workshop, production floor or joinery team, you already have the hard-to-find skills. We’ll teach you the fine art side.
The Role
You’ll run our NSW packing and crating workshop day to day. You’ll lead a team of up 5 skilled technicians, keep projects moving and make sure every object leaves well protected. You’ll report to our National Manager, T.E.D, and have real ownership of how the workshop runs: the people, the planning, the quality of the work and the numbers.
What You’ll Do
- Plan the week: juggle schedules, people and materials across several projects at once
- Lead, coach and grow your team: set clear expectations, give regular feedback and build a workshop people are proud to work in
- Hire and onboard recent team members as the workload grows
- Visit sites and meet clients to assess objects and recommend the right way to pack and crate them
- Oversee the design and build of custom crates and packing, making sure every job meets client, safety and quality standards, including ISPM-15 (international timber export rules)
- Own the paperwork that keeps things on track: quotes, job tracking, production documents and invoicing
- Look after materials, tools and equipment so the team has what it needs
- Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues
- Get out on site to support key projects and installs when needed
About You
You might come from fine art logistics,
museums or galleries, but you’re just as likely to come from joinery, cabinetry, manufacturing, construction, exhibition building or production. What matters most is that you can lead people, stay organised under pressure and look after customers.
What you’ll need:
- Experience leading a team in a workshop, production or technical environment
- Strong planning skills, and the ability to keep several projects on track at once
- Commercial sense: you’re comfortable with quoting, estimating or managing costs
- Clear, friendly communication with your team and with clients
Bonus if you have:
- Experience with fine art, museum objects or other high-value, fragile items
- Hands-on crate building, joinery or cabinetry skills
- Knowledge of export packing standards such as ISPM-15
Don’t tick every box? Apply anyway. We’ll give you the training and support to build specialist fine art skills.
