This is a hands-on bookkeeping role for someone who enjoys building relationships with clients, taking ownership of their work and being part of a broader advisory team. You'll work closely with our accountants and advisers, providing end-to-end bookkeeping support across a diverse portfolio of clients, including small to medium businesses, family office and not for profits. You will work both on onsite and offsite with clients to help ensure their financial information is accurate, timely and genuinely useful. You'll have regular contact with clients and the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of their businesses, while having the support and expertise of our broader Business Advisory team around you.

Key responsibilities

Provide day-to-day bookkeeping services across a portfolio of clients.

Complete accurate bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Manage payroll processing, including Single Touch Payroll (STP), payroll tax, workcover and superannuation requirements.

Review and improve existing client bookkeeping processes to ensure efficiencies, including the use of AI tools where applicable.

Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS).

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records within Xero and other accounting systems.

Work directly with clients to resolve queries (such as Xero and ad-hoc bookkeeping queries), obtain information and proactively support their bookkeeping needs.

Develop an understanding of Morrows' multidisciplinary services and identify opportunities where our broader team may be able to support clients.

Look for opportunities to improve processes, systems and the way we deliver our bookkeeping services.

About you

4-5+ years' bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accounting or skilled services setting.

Strong working knowledge of Xero and MYOB. 100% of our Business Advisory team are Xero Certified.

Experience across reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and BAS preparation.

Confidence communicating directly with clients and building trusted working relationships.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues rather than simply processing transactions.

A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a collaborative team.

An interest in technology, automation and finding smarter ways of working.
