The OpportunityA highly regarded insurance disputes practice is seeking an experienced Special Counsel to join its Sydney team, working on a sophisticated portfolio of complex liability and casualty matters for leading Australian and international insurers.This is an opportunity to step into a senior role with genuine autonomy, managing high-value and technically challenging litigation while working alongside respected insurance specialists.
The practice acts across a broad spectrum of liability claims, offering exposure to major personal injury disputes, public and product liability matters, property damage litigation and complex recovery actions.The role also provides the chance to mentor junior lawyers, strengthen client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of a well-established insurance practice.The RoleWorking closely with a collaborative team of experienced insurance litigators, you will be responsible for:Managing a diverse portfolio of complex liability and casualty litigationAdvising insurer clients on strategy, liability, indemnity and quantumConducting litigation across State and Federal jurisdictionsManaging significant personal injury, public liability, product liability, property damage and recovery mattersDeveloping and maintaining strong relationships with insurer and corporate clientsSupervising, mentoring and supporting junior lawyers within the teamWorking collaboratively with counsel,



experts and external stakeholders to deliver successful outcomesProviding commercially focused advice throughout the life of each matterAbout YouYou are an accomplished insurance litigator with significant experience managing complex defendant insurance matters and the confidence to lead files independently.You will also bring:Approximately 10 or more years' post-admission experienceStrong expertise across liability, casualty or general insurance litigationExtensive experience appearing in, or managing matters through, State and Federal CourtsExcellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skillsA commercial and strategic approach to dispute resolutionThe ability to build trusted client relationships and contribute to business developmentA collaborative leadership style with a genuine interest in mentoring and developing junior lawyersThe FirmThis opportunity sits within an internationally recognised disputes practice with a strong reputation in insurance litigation and liability claims.The firm acts for a broad range of domestic and international insurers, multinational organisations and corporate clients across complex, high-value disputes.
