Detailed Job Description

A well-regarded private education organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join its finance team. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of end-to-end payroll services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities
Process end-to-end payroll for a large employee workforce on a fortnightly basis
Maintain employee payroll records, including current starters, terminations, leave, and remuneration changes
Interpret relevant awards, EBAs, and employment conditions
Manage payroll-related compliance, including superannuation, payroll tax, STP, and statutory reporting
Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end reporting requirements
Respond to payroll enquiries and provide high-quality support to employees and managers
Ensure payroll processes are completed accurately and within required deadlines




Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls

Skills & Experience
Previous experience in an end-to-end payroll position
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
Experience interpreting awards and enterprise agreements
Payroll system experience such as MicrOpay, Chris21/iChris, Employment Hero, Preceda, or similar
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience within the education sector will be highly regarded
