Welding Supervisor – Marine Engineering | Defence & Commercial Vessels

Flow Tech Australia is a national marine engineering company supporting Royal Australian Navy vessels and major commercial fleets across Sydney, Perth, Darwin and Cairns. Due to continued growth in our Sydney operations, we are seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to lead day‑to‑day welding activities across fabrication, ship repair and site‑based projects.

This role suits a hands‑on leader with strong technical capability, a commitment to safety, and confidence managing teams in a fast‑paced marine engineering environment.

About the Role
Oversee and coordinate daily welding operations across workshop and vessel‑based projects
Supervise, mentor and support welders, apprentices and contractors
Ensure all welding meets AS/NZS, ISO, Lloyds, DNV and project‑specific requirements
Conduct weld inspections, quality checks and maintain accurate documentation
Manage workflow, scheduling, job allocation and resource planning
Lead WHS compliance, toolbox talks and safe work practices
Liaise with Welding Inspectors, Business Unit Managers, Engineers and QA teams to ensure project delivery

What We’re Looking For




Proven experience as a Welding Supervisor or Leading Hand
AS1796 Certificate 10 (mandatory)
Robust knowledge of TIG, Stick, FCAW and general fabrication processes
Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, weld symbols and technical specifications
Solid understanding of ISO standards and relevant welding codes
Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills
Commitment to safety, quality and maintaining a clean, organised work setting
Trade qualification in fabrication/welding (highly regarded)
Must be Australian Citizen
Will required to be NV1 clearance
Police clearance required

Pay: $40.00 – $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38.0 – 50.0 per week
