Shalom Indonesian Restaurant is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our team. We specialise in authentic Indonesian cuisine and are committed to providing our customers with high-quality food and excellent service.

The successful applicant will report to the Restaurant Manager and will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Indonesian dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and workplace safety.
Permanent Full time Position
38 hours per week
Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum
Location: Sydney CBD

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of Indonesian dishes in accordance with restaurant recipes and quality standards.
Ensure high standards of food presentation and consistency.
Supervise and coordinate food preparation activities in the kitchen.
Monitor food quality, freshness and stock levels as well as ensuring proper storage of raw ingredients in fridge and freezer as appropriate.
Order and requisition food supplies, ingredients and kitchen equipment as required.
Inspect, operate and maintain kitchen facilities,



kitchen equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen.
Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to kitchen staff.
Assist in menu planning, recipe development and costing of menu items.
Meet with customers regarding menus for special functions and dietary requirements.
Schedule kitchen duties and assist with training new kitchen staff.
Follow secure work procedures when handling equipment and cleaning chemicals.

Successful Applicants Must Have
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 2 years' relevant experience as a Cook.
Strong knowledge of Indonesian cuisine and commercial kitchen operations.
Sound understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workplace.
Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
