We are seeking a highly experienced, confident and mature Disability Support Worker to support a participant with complex behavioural, communication and clinical needs.
This is not an entry-level role. The participant presents with significant and complex behaviours of concern (BOC), requiring a support worker with extensive hands-on experience, robust behavioural management skills and the confidence to respond safely in high-pressure situations.
Experience supporting individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disability, severe anxiety and absconding behaviours is essential.
The successful applicant must also have extensive experience managing structured mealtimes, food-related behaviours, implementing Behaviour Support Plans and providing stoma care.
We are looking for someone who is:
Highly experienced in managing significant behaviours of concern, including escalation, severe anxiety, absconding and other high-risk behaviours.
Confident and capable of responding to complex and challenging situations independently, while following established support and escalation procedures.
Mature, emotionally resilient and composed, with sound judgement and solid professional boundaries.
Skilled in positive behaviour support, recognising early warning signs, identifying triggers, using de-escalation strategies and preventing incidents where possible.
Calm, patient and appropriately assertive, able to maintain consistent routines and boundaries without becoming reactive or confrontational.
Experienced in PWS-related food management, including structured mealtimes, food security and managing food-seeking behaviours.
Proactive and highly observant, able to anticipate risks, respond to changing behaviours and maintain a safe support environment.
Reliable and consistent, with the ability to follow Behaviour Support Plans and clinical care instructions.
An effective communicator, able to collaborate with the participant, support team and clinical specialists.
We are specifically seeking an established support worker with proven experience managing significant behaviours of concern. You must have the confidence, maturity, emotional resilience and practical skills to manage complex situations safely, professionally and consistently.
