Oak Flats Bowling & Recreational Club is seeking a committed, passionate and inspirational Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.

We are looking for someone who has a genuine passion for food , takes pride in producing high-quality dishes, is willing to learn, and enjoys working as part of a supportive team in a busy commercial kitchen.

About the Role

Working closely with our Head Chef, you will play an significant role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring a high standard of food quality, presentation, cleanliness and service.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
Ensuring consistent and high-quality food preparation and presentation
Maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen
Supporting the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen
Working alongside apprentices and supporting their daily tasks and development
Following Workplace Health & Safety and food safety standards
Assisting with functions and busy service periods
Working across fryers, grills, pasta and other kitchen sections
Maintaining a positive and professional working environment




Working efficiently during busy periods while maintaining food quality

About You
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen
Previous experience in a Sous Chef or senior kitchen position is highly desirable
Solid cooking skills and a genuine passion for food
Experience with fryers, grills and pasta
Experience working in functions and high-volume service
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and time-management skills
The ability to remain calm and productive under pressure
A strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements
A strong work ethic and positive “can-do” attitude
A willingness to learn, grow and contribute to the team
Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
