Swan Heavy Haulage is seeking an experiencedHeavy Haulage Float Driverto join our team on afull-time basis.
Based inWamuran, QLD ****, this role is integral to our operations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of heavy equipment and materials across Queensland and beyond.
As a Heavy Haulage Float Driver, you will be responsible for operating specialised heavy vehicles, managing complex logistics, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism on every journey.
The role will require someone who is able to load and unload plant confidently, perform local and interstate journeys, Confidence operating large prime mover and combination (T908 + Dolly and Quad Float), Assist with yard duties including preparation of equipment for transport, cleaning up/putting equipment away, washing of trucks trailers and equipment,
Key responsibilities
Operating and maintaining heavy haulage float vehicles in compliance with all road transport regulations and company safety protocols
Planning and executing efficient routes whilst adhering to load restrictions, road regulations, and delivery schedules
Conducting thorough vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any maintenance issues promptly
Securing and managing heavy loads safely using appropriate equipment and techniques
Communicating effectively with dispatch, clients, and site supervisors to ensure smooth operations
Maintaining detailed logbooks and documentation in accordance with legal requirements and company procedures
Adhering strictly to fatigue management laws and working hour regulations
Demonstrating a commitment to safety on all occasions, including participation in safety briefings and continuous improvement initiatives
Supporting other team members and contributing to a positive workplace culture
What we're looking for
Current Open Heavy Combination Licence (HC) with a clean driving record




Minimum 2–3 years' experience operating heavy haulage float vehicles or similar heavy vehicles (T908 + Quad and Dolly)
Knowledge of load restraint standards and best practices for securing heavy loads
Strong understanding of fatigue management regulations and logbook requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently whilst maintaining focus on safety and deadlines
Physical fitness and capability to perform manual tasks associated with load securing and vehicle maintenance
A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety risks
Current First Aid Certificate is preferred
Experience with specialised haulage (e.g., drilling equipment) is advantageous
Able to Load and Unload plant (Dozers, Excavators and other Plant)
Able to assist with on-site plant operations when required
General maintenance, cleaning of truck, assistance with yard duties
