Following the development of the$25 million Great Barrier Reef Arena, our precinct has continued to grow its reputation for delivering major sporting, entertainment and hospitality experiences.
Most recently, Harrup Park proudly delivered thehistoric Australia vs Bangladesh Test Match— placing our venue, our people and Mackay on the international sporting stage.

Our kitchen is continuing to evolve.
We are placing a solid focus onfresh preparation, quality ingredients and cooking from scratch wherever possible, while developing menus that deliver both great value and memorable dining experiences.
As a Commis Chef, you'll work alongside our Executive Chef and experienced senior chefs while developing your skills across multiple areas of the operation.
You'll have the opportunity to work across:
Bistro– fresh, modern club dining, seasonal dishes, rotating specials and family favourites
Café– casual dining, light meals and freshly prepared favourites
Functions & Events– canapés, buffets, plated dinners, corporate events, weddings and major event catering
What You'll Do
You'll be an important part of our kitchen brigade, supporting preparation and service while continuing to develop your skills as a chef.
You will:
Prepare and cook fresh food to our recipes and presentation standards
Work alongside and learn from our Executive Chef and senior kitchen team
Support smooth and efficient service across our Bistro, Café and Functions
Take pride in presentation, consistency and quality
Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards
Assist with stock rotation, preparation, labelling and kitchen organisation




Work collaboratively during busy services and major events
Bring energy, curiosity and a willingness to continue learning your craft
What You'll Bring
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
A genuine passion for cooking and working with fresh food
A willingness to learn and develop within an experienced kitchen team
Strong communication and time-management skills
The ability to remain organised and composed during busy services
Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays
A strong commitment to food safety, hygiene and presentation
Reliability, positivity and a team-first attitude
