A well-established North Sydney accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Business Services & Tax Manager to join their growing team.
n
n
The firm works closely with small to medium-sized businesses across a range of industries, providing services across accounting, tax, and business advisory. Their approach goes beyond compliance, partnering with business owners to support growth, strategic decision-making, and complex transactions.
n
n
With a diverse SME client base including manufacturing and other traditional sectors, the firm continues to grow through referrals, acquisitions, and new client wins. As a result, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Services & Tax Manager to lead one of their teams and strengthen the firm's internal tax capability.

nThe Opportunity n
n
This role will see you lead one of the firm's teams while managing a client portfolio of approximately $1.5M in compliance fees.
n
n
You will work closely with the partners while providing leadership to a team of accountants and supporting clients with both compliance and advisory work.
n
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
n
n
Managing a portfolio of SME clients across business services and tax
n
n
Acting as the tax specialist for the team
n
n
Delivering tax advisory on matters such as corporate restructures, tax consolidation, transaction-related tax issues, and other tax matters
n
n




Reviewing tax compliance work completed by team
n
n
Managing workflow, work in progress, and debtors
n
n
Leading and mentoring a team of 5 staff (including a supervisor)
n
n
Ensuring strong client outcomes and team productivity
n
n
Supporting partners on client strategy and advisory work.
n
n

nAbout You n
n
This role will suit an experienced Business Services Manager who enjoys both technical tax work and leading teams.
n
n
You may come from a mid-tier, Big Four, or strong boutique firm, and will bring both technical capability and practical management experience.
n
n
Key requirements include:
n
n
n
n
CA or CPA qualified
n
n
Strong experience in business services and tax
n
n
Solid technical capability across tax advisory and structuring
n
n
Experience managing teams and client portfolios
n
n
Solid organisational skills and the ability to manage workflow, WIP, and deadlines
n
n
Experience using Xero and Xero Practice Manager (or similar systems)
n
n
A proactive and collaborative leadership style
n
n
