Southern Meat Co is seeking a reliable and customer-focused
Cashier
to join our team in Lalor VIC. This is a
casual position
that offers flexibility while playing a vital role in delivering exceptional service to our customers. As a Cashier, you will be the final point of contact for our customers, ensuring smooth transactions and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere at our retail location. This role is essential to our operations, directly impacting customer satisfaction and our reputation as a trusted local business.

What you'll be doing

Processing customer purchases accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system
n
Handling cash, card payments, and other payment methods with precision and security
n
Providing friendly and professional customer service to all shoppers
n
Assisting with bagging and packaging of products to meet customer requirements
n
Maintaining a clean and organised checkout area
n
Answering customer enquiries about products and pricing
n
Processing refunds and exchanges in accordance with store policies
n
Supporting the retail team with general store duties as required
n
Monitoring stock levels at the checkout and reporting issues to management
n
Preferred Language Italian, Greek and Macedonian, but not essential
n
What we're looking for
n
Previous experience as a cashier or in a retail environment is desirable but not essential
n
Robust numeracy skills and accuracy when handling cash and payments
n
Excellent communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanour

Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods
n
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy
n
Customer service experience demonstrating patience and problem-solving abilities
n
Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied shifts as required
n
A willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures
n
Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems is advantageous
