Job Description:

We’re on the search for a highly organised and tech-savvy Administration Support Officer to join the Australian Retail Council, the unified voice of the retail community in Australia. This role supports the Industry Skills and Jobs Advisor (ISJA) across the Retail and Personal Services sectors.

This part-time role (approximately 1-2 days per week) provides practical administrative, coordination and digital support across a range of workforce and industry development activities in Queensland. This is a contract role until December 2027.

Working closely with the ISJA, you'll play a key role in keeping projects organised, preparing information, co-ordinating meetings and communications, and proactively following up on actions and deadlines.

We’re particularly interested in someone who is comfortable using AI and digital tools and is always looking for smarter and more efficient ways of working. You don’t need to be an AI expert – we’re looking for someone who enjoys technology, is keen to use new tools and willing to learn.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student, early-career professional, or someone looking for flexible part-time work who wants to build experience in administration, project support, stakeholder engagement and the broader world of industry and workforce development.

About the Role:

Working closely with the ISJA, you will:

- Provide general administrative and project support.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments and stakeholder communications.
- Prepare documents, presentations, correspondence and meeting materials.
- Take clear notes and help track follow-up actions.
- Maintain accurate contact and stakeholder information.
- Contribute to research,

information gathering and preparing summaries.
- Help with communications, newsletters, updates and other project materials.
- Use AI and digital tools to improve efficiency and support day-to-day work.
- Assist with general tasks and projects as required.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is organised, curious, reliable and comfortable with technology with:

- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and common digital tools.
- An interest in AI and emerging technology, and a willingness to experiment with new tools.
- The ability to learn quickly and pick up new systems and processes.
- A positive, helpful and collaborative approach.
- The ability to work independently and manage your time.
- Professionalism when communicating with different people and organisations.

You don’t need to tick every box to apply. If you are a student, graduate, returning to the workforce, changing careers or simply looking for a flexible opportunity to build your skills, we encourage you to get in touch.

Experience in administration, project support, retail, personal services, VET or industry would be helpful, but attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn are just as key.

About Us:

The Australian Retail Council (ARC) is the unified voice for the retail community in Australia. It represents a $444 billion sector that employs 1.4 million Australians across metropolitan, regional, and remote communities – making retail the largest private sector employer in the country and a significant contributor to the Australian economy.

Our membership spans the spectrum of retail, from family-owned small and independent retailers that make up 95% of our membership, through to our largest national and international retailers that employ thousands of Australians and support both metropolitan and regional communities every day.

We are committed to ensuring every Australian respects and celebrates the sustaining contribution of retail to our nation.

We believe a diverse team makes us stronger. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and perspective, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Australian South Sea Islander people, people with disability, LGBTIQ and culturally diverse candidates to apply.

We support flexible working arrangements for employees which allows balancing working from home and working from our offices.

To Apply:

If you are organised, curious about technology and AI, and would enjoy supporting projects that make a difference to Australia's retail and personal services industries, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and a short Cover Letter telling us a little about yourself, your relevant experience and why this opportunity interests you.

Applications close 2 November 2026. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
