Mader Group is a leading global provider of specialist technical services across the mining, energy and industrial sectors. As our Industrial Projects division continues to grow, we are looking for a technically capable and commercially minded Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I;) Estimator to support an expanding pipeline of industrial construction projects and current business opportunities.

We're looking for someone who understands the technical detail behind the numbers, not just how to prepare a project budget.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who understands industrial electrical and instrumentation installations and can combine practical project knowledge with strong commercial awareness to develop accurate, competitive and achievable estimates.

While previous estimating experience would be highly regarded, we're also open to experienced Project Managers, Project Engineers or electrical professionals with a strong industrial E&I; background who are looking to transition into estimating or take the next step in their career.

You'll understand how projects are delivered on site, be confident interpreting technical documentation and have the commercial aptitude to develop your estimating capability.

The role

Based at Mader Group's Applecross headquarters and reporting directly to the Executive General Manager – Industrial Projects, you'll be responsible for estimating activities across electrical and instrumentation construction packages.

You'll be involved from the early stages of an opportunity, reviewing technical requirements, developing detailed cost estimates and supporting tenders through to submission and project handover.

Working closely with our Industrial Projects leadership and operational teams, you will:

- Prepare detailed first-principles estimates for E&I; construction projects.

- Review electrical drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.

- Develop accurate labour,



material, equipment and subcontractor costings.

- Complete material take-offs and assess installation methodologies, productivity and resource requirements.

- Evaluate electrical infrastructure, instrumentation and control system installation requirements.

- Identify technical risks, scope gaps, exclusions and commercial opportunities.

- Prepare competitive pricing schedules, cost breakdowns and tender submissions.

- Collaborate with engineering, project delivery and operational teams to ensure estimates reflect practical site requirements.

- Support tender clarifications, commercial reviews and successful project handovers.

- Contribute to estimating improvements and the development of our E&I; project capability.

About you

You're a technically capable professional who understands that successful estimating requires strong technical knowledge, practical construction experience and sound commercial judgement.

You know how industrial electrical and instrumentation projects are delivered, can confidently interpret technical documentation and understand the importance of developing estimates that are both competitive and achievable.

You will bring:

- Experience in E&I; estimating, project management, project engineering or industrial electrical project delivery.

- Solid technical understanding of industrial electrical and instrumentation installations.

- Practical knowledge of labour productivity and construction costs.

- Confidence interpreting electrical drawings, technical specifications and complex scopes of work.

- Experience with project costings,



material take-offs, budgets or subcontractor assessments.

- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify technical risks and pricing opportunities.

- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to competing deadlines.

- Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with a practical and solutions-focused approach.

- A proactive attitude and willingness to develop your estimating expertise.

An electrical trade qualification or electrical engineering background would be highly regarded, particularly where combined with hands-on industrial construction or project delivery experience.

Previous first-principles estimating experience will be advantageous; however, we're equally interested in hearing from experienced E&I; project professionals who have the technical knowledge and commercial aptitude to develop in this space. We would also welcome applications from Senior or Lead Estimators as we’re willing to invest in securing the right person to support our continued growth.
