As the Multimedia Specialist - Test Lead, your purpose is to ensure the robust quality, reliability, and performance of the core API’s functions, backend systems and front end functions that power the mod.io platform.

You will be instrumental in safeguarding the integrity of our services, enabling seamless integration for game developers and a smooth, enjoyable experience for millions of players. You will lead our QA efforts, establishing best practices, managing and mentoring team members, and championing a culture of quality throughout the development lifecycle.

The Opportunity

To take ownership of the day-to-day testing process and quality of mod.io’s web products, helping ensure changes are ready to be released confidently to studios, creators and players. Working closely with Delivery Leads, Tech Leads, Product Managers and engineers, you define what needs to be tested across supported browsers, devices, APIs and user journeys, selecting the appropriate level of functional, exploratory and regression coverage. You maintain clear quality visibility, raise actionable defects and release risks, and identify opportunities to strengthen test coverage, automate repeatable checks and improve the team’s development and release processes.

What you’ll be doing in the role (Key Accountabilities)

In this role you will be:

● Leading the implementation and maintenance of our build pipelines across Web, Rest API, Unity Engine, Unreal Engine, C++ and C# SDKs

● Defining the scope and required resources (hardware and software) for testing for each project

● Designing and executing test strategies for multimedia upload, processing, display, and performance across browsers and devices.





● Testing at the product component and API level, as well as at the end-to-end and feature level. You'll also be testing nonfunctional requirements such as: security, reliability, maintainability, scalability, usability, and so on

● Validating integration of multimedia files with web applications, APIs, and content delivery systems.

● Verifying consistency and accuracy of multimedia presentation within user interfaces and embedded game environments.

● Collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to test changes affecting content access, security controls, and platform reliability.

● Helping to define 'Done' for individual stories / tasks and overall project(s)

● Helping to design, build, implement and execute automated and manual tests, including exploratory testing, across multiple platforms, including VR and game consoles and operating systems - our teams will be writing functional, performance, and automated unit tests, as well as creating scripts to automatically deploy code into test environments and executing the tests

● Providing quality and performance feedback to support platform development and enhancement planning.

● Ensuring testing processes support platform stability, data integrity, and continuity of multimedia services.

● Managing and conducting UAT

● Providing testing estimates

● Completing regression testing

● Collaborating with scrum masters and developers to resolve bugs

● Providing test reporting including test case execution, defect reporting and defect tracking

● Other testing support as required in a startup environment

For this role, we need someone who is passionate about automation and testing, with great problem solving skills and an eye for detail.

Qualifications:





● Practical experience testing production web applications across supported browsers, devices, screen sizes and operating systems.

● Demonstrated experience planning and executing functional, exploratory, regression, integration and release testing.

● Strong understanding of web technologies, including HTTP, REST APIs, browser developer tools, authentication flows and client–server behaviour.

● Experience writing clear test plans, test cases and high-quality defect reports with reproducible steps, expected and actual results, environment details and supporting evidence.

● Ability to assess feature and release risk, prioritise testing effort and communicate quality concerns clearly to Product, Production and Engineering.

● Experience working within an agile software-development lifecycle, including refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews and release activities.

● Familiarity with test-management and delivery tools such as ClickUp, Jira or equivalent, along with source-control and CI/CD workflows.

● Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to isolate issues across frontend, backend, API and environment boundaries.

● Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with Delivery Leads, Tech Leads, Product Managers and engineers.

● Ability to work autonomously on routine testing and release activities while recognising when technical, product or delivery risks need escalation.

● A customer-focused mindset, considering the experience of studios, creators and players when evaluating product quality.

Bonus Points

● Experience with API-testing tools such as Postman, Insomnia or similar.

● Experience using browser automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress or Selenium.

● Familiarity with automated testing in CI/CD pipelines, including interpreting failures and identifying flaky tests.

● Experience testing accessibility, localisation, responsive interfaces, performance or degraded network conditions.

● Basic knowledge of SQL, log analysis, monitoring or observability tools.

● Experience testing payments, account systems, content platforms, developer tools or other integration-heavy SaaS products.

● Experience in gaming, UGC, middleware or products serving external developers and studios.

● Relevant testing certification, such as ISTQB, although equivalent practical experience is equally valuable.
