About The Empress & Wolf
The Empress & Wolf is a unique independent retail business specialising in crystals, gems, jewellery, tarot and oracle cards, spiritual books, mystical homewares and products that support self-exploration, healing and empowerment.
We're a woman-owned and neurodivergent-owned small business, and we're passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive space where people can explore their interests and feel genuinely supported.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to stand behind a counter waiting for customers to approach them.
We're looking for a sales superstar who is comfortable being proactive, starting conversations, understanding what a customer needs and creating a genuinely memorable retail experience.
What we're looking for
A strong work ethic and proven retail/sales experience
You need to be someone who understands retail, knows how to provide excellent customer service and takes pride in doing a job well.
Reliability and consistency are extremely important to us.
Excellent people skills
You genuinely enjoy people.
You're confident approaching customers, starting conversations with people you don't know and making them feel welcome.
You're warm and engaging without being pushy,
and you understand that outstanding sales come from listening to customers and helping them find what they're actually looking for.
Independence and initiative
We're a small business, so you need to be comfortable working independently.
You can look around, see what needs doing and get on with it.
You're capable of thinking on your feet, making sensible decisions and handling unexpected situations calmly.
Strong communication and attention to detail
You communicate clearly and professionally with customers and the team.
You're organised, detail-oriented and consistent, particularly when handling transactions, customer information, stock and administrative tasks.
Confidence with technology
You'll need to be comfortable using:
- Point of Sale systems
- Gmail
- Google Calendar
- Basic data entry systems
Experience with retail POS systems is essential.
Your responsibilities will include
- Providing warm, engaging and knowledgeable customer service
- Proactively approaching customers and creating genuine conversation
- Helping customers find products that suit their needs, interests and budget
- Educating customers about our products and services
- Driving sales through excellent service rather than pushy sales tactics
- Operating our Point of Sale system
- Processing sales and assisting with laybys
- Following established processes for returns and refunds
- Gmail and Google Calendar administration
- Data entry and maintaining accurate records
- Labelling products once pricing and coding has been completed
- Merchandising and helping curate beautiful, engaging product displays
- Keeping the store organised, clean and inviting
- Working independently when required
- Thinking on your feet and resolving problems appropriately
- Communicating clearly with customers and the team
- Eventually opening and closing the store independently
Experience and interests that would be a bonus
We'd love to hear from you if you also have:
- Merchandising or retail display experience
- An eye for creating beautiful, interesting product displays
- Experience in jewellery, crystals, wellness, spiritual retail or a similar environment
- A genuine interest in crystals, healing,
tarot, spirituality or personal development
- An interest in women's empowerment
- Experience working in a small business
- Strong administrative or data entry skills
You don't need to be an expert in crystals or spirituality. A willingness to learn is more important. What matters most is that you are genuinely interested in helping people and are excited to learn about the products you're selling.
Training & progression
You'll receive comprehensive in-store training before taking on the full responsibilities of the role.
Training will include:
- POS operation
- Sales procedures
- Laybys
- Returns and refunds
- Customer resolution processes
- Store procedures
- Opening and closing
- Product knowledge
- Merchandising
As you become established in the role, additional hours may become available.
Who will thrive in this role?
You'll probably love this job if you're the kind of person who:
- Says hello to people rather than waiting for them to approach you
- Can turn a simple "Can I help you?" into a genuine conversation
- Gets satisfaction from helping someone find exactly what they're looking for
- Takes responsibility for their work
- Notices the little things
- Is dependable and consistent
- Can work independently without needing constant direction
- Isn't afraid to ask questions when you're unsure
- Enjoys learning
- Has a warm, caring personality
