About the role

Vakhraa Modern India is a up-to-date Indian restaurant located in the heart of Stirling, Perth. We are seeking a passionate, experienced and dedicated Full-Time Cook / Chef to join our growing kitchen team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Indian cuisine, excellent cooking skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic and modern Indian dishes, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, tandoori and curry dishes.

- Prepare menu items using various cooking methods, including grilling, frying, steaming, roasting and sautéing.

- Ensure food quality, taste, consistency and presentation meet restaurant standards.

- Monitor cooking processes and adjust seasoning, flavours and cooking times as required.

- Portion, plate and present dishes according to restaurant specifications.

- Prepare marinades, sauces, gravies and other ingredients for daily kitchen operations.

- Assist with menu planning, recipe development and introducing new dishes.

- Maintain appropriate food storage, refrigeration, freezing and preservation procedures.

- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering ingredients and coordinate with suppliers.

- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards and workplace health and safety requirements.

About you





- Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant qualification.

- Minimum 2 years of professional cooking experience, preferably in an Indian restaurant.

- Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, marinades, curries and tandoori cooking.

- Experience working in a commercial kitchen.

- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling procedures.

- Excellent organisational and time management skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen.

- Positive attitude, professionalism and strong communication skills.

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
