Job Description

Description Our Client The Trustee for LOVE ALTONA UNIT TRUST T/A Salt n Pepa Cafe is seeking two experienced Chefs to join their team located in Altona, VIC 3018.

This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of meals, maintaining food quality and presentation, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations and hygiene standards. Tasks required include: Plan, prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, lunch, light meals, sandwiches, salads, hot food and other menu items in accordance with recipes and quality standards.

Prepare and cook meals for dine-in, takeaway and catering orders, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation and portion sizes. Assist in developing and updating menu items, including daily specials and catering selections, based on customer preferences and seasonal ingredients. Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating and portioning meat, vegetables and other food products required for service.

Monitor food quality, freshness and presentation, and ensure all dishes are prepared and served within required timeframes. Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation and cooking areas, including compliance with relevant health regulations. Manage food preparation requirements and monitor stock levels,



assisting with ordering and controlling food costs to minimise wastage.

Coordinate with cafe staff during busy service periods to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely preparation of customer and catering orders. Qualification and Experience Minimum Certificate IV qualification or equivalent studies, along with at least 2 years of relevant work experience, is required.
