About Mossop Construction + Interiors

Mossop Construction + Interiors are a proudly owned and operated family business, backed with over 40 years of experience in the South Australian construction industry. Through the collaboration, innovation and passion of our team, Mossop have become leaders in commercial construction and fitout projects across both Tier 1 and 2. Mossop are committed to delivering exceptional results and it’s our 150+ staff that make this possible, going the extra mile and bringing their expertise to every project, no matter the size or value.

About the Role:

We’re looking for an established HR professional who combines sound technical knowledge with commercial awareness, strong leadership capability and a practical, people-focused approach.

As the HR Manager, you’ll take ownership of the HR function, providing strategic direction while ensuring the day-to-day people operations run effectively.

You’ll lead and develop the HR team, working closely with our Talent Acquisition Lead, HR Assistant, managers and senior leaders to ensure our people practices align with business objectives, legislative requirements and the culture we want to maintain.

From workforce planning and leadership development through to employee relations, performance management and workplace wellbeing, you’ll have the scope to influence the full employee lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to move beyond simply managing HR processes. We want someone who can identify opportunities, challenge the status quo where appropriate and turn good ideas into practical improvements that benefit both our people and the business.

Duties include:

- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.

- Lead and mentor the HR team, partnering with senior management.

- Manage employee relations, industrial relations and complex HR matters.

- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention and workforce planning.

- Manage performance reviews, training,

development and succession planning.

- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, systems and employment contracts.

- Oversee remuneration structures, employee benefits and HR budgets.

- Manage workplace injuries, return-to-work processes and employee wellbeing.

- Drive employee engagement, organisational culture and inclusion initiatives.

- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, industrial obligations and reporting requirements.

- Support Mossop’s RAP, workforce participation and social inclusion initiatives.

- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across HR operations.

About You:

Experience within commercial construction or a similar industry will be highly regarded, particularly if you understand the people, operational and workforce challenges that come with a project-driven environment.

You will ideally have:

- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, or a related discipline.

- At least seven years of HR experience, including experience leading and managing teams.

- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, systems and processes.

- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations, awards, agreements and workplace compliance.

- Experience managing complex employee relations matters, performance issues, grievances and disciplinary processes.

- The ability to advise and influence managers and senior leaders, balancing business objectives with fair and appropriate people outcomes.

- Experience across workforce planning, performance management, remuneration, learning and development,

employee engagement and retention.

- Robust communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills.

- A high level of professionalism, integrity and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters.

- A proactive mindset, sound judgement and the ability to turn strategic priorities into practical action.

As our people are required to attend government, health and education facilities and construction sites, it is a condition of employment for this role, that the ability to pass a pre-employment medical, background police check and working with children clearance is adhered to.

Due to the high volume of applicants, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Our Values, Culture and Benefits:

Mossop is a people business. Being part of the team means you’ll be in a culture that promotes creativity and innovation, is open to feedback, rewards impact and ensures everyone is heard, whilst providing opportunity to work on an exciting, diverse range of projects.

Importantly you’ll receive the following:

- Two additional days of leave each year to rest and recharge

- Access to novated car leasing

- Loyalty leave once you hit three years of tenure, to say thank you!

- Access to flexible working arrangements and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

- Annual flu vaccination and skin check
