About the role

Independent Energy Systems is seeking a skilled 2/2 Maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic team in Port Hedland, Western Australia. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing essential maintenance and electrical support services. The role is based on-site in Port Hedland WA 6721, where you will work on a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster, a common arrangement in regional industries.

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our electrical systems and equipment operate safely and efficiently, contributing directly to the operational success of our business.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct routine maintenance inspections on electrical systems, equipment and installations to identify potential faults or areas requiring attention
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks to minimise downtime and extend the lifespan of electrical assets
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment and methodologies
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components, wiring, switchboards and control systems in a safe and compliant manner
- Install recent electrical equipment and systems in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and site specifications
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency electrical issues to minimise operational disruption
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs completed and spare parts used
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant electrical regulations, safety standards and company procedures
- Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete projects and support site operations




- Contribute to a safe working environment by identifying hazards and adhering to all health and safety protocols

What we're looking for

- Current Electrical Trade Qualification (apprenticeship completion or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Valid Electrician's License or Electrical Registration recognised in Western Australia
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance and fault-finding within industrial, commercial or renewable energy environments
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, switchboards, motors, controls and industrial equipment
- Proficiency in using testing and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers and clamp meters.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices and understanding of relevant Australian Standards
- Experience working in regional or remote locations and on rotating rosters is advantageous
- A valid driver's licence is essential for this role
