Speedie Waste & Recycling is an Australian owned waste and recycling business, providing essential waste management services to businesses and communities across Melbourne for more than 70 years. We are looking for an experienced and confident Accounts Payable Officer to join our team in a hands on role supporting the day to day financial administration of the business.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is highly organised, enjoys working autonomously and takes pride in getting the detail right. You will have ownership of your responsibilities and will be trusted to manage your workload with minimal supervision.
About the role
Your responsibilities will include
- Managing day to day accounts payable and ensuring invoices are accurately processed and paid
- Processing invoices, reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
- Maintaining accurate financial records in Xero
- Preparing information and assisting with monthly BAS requirements
- Supporting the collation of payroll data for processing
- Bank and account reconciliations
- Assisting with general accounts and financial administration as required
- Maintaining organised and accurate records and ensuring deadlines are met
- Working closely with management and other areas of the business where required
About you We are looking for someone who:
- Has solid experience in an accounts payable/accounts administration role
- Is confident and experienced using Xero
- Has experience with BAS preparation and/ monthly BAS processes
- Understands payroll data and can accurately collate information for payroll processing
- Is highly organised and has excellent attention to detail
- Can work independently and take ownership of their responsibilities
- Is confident identifying and resolving discrepancies rather than waiting to be directed
- Can manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Is reliable, practical and comfortable working in a hands on environment
