Role Description The Apprentice Welder role is a full-time, on-site position based in Brisbane, QLD at Hollywood MetalFab’s Seventeen Mile Rocks facility. The apprentice will work with our fabrication team with daily tasks such as preparing materials, setting up equipment, and performing basic welding operations under supervision.

Responsibilities include learning and applying safe work practices, following technical drawings, measuring and cutting metal, and helping assemble and finish components for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.



The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized workspace, supporting quality checks, and progressively developing skills across different welding processes and materials. The position offers structured training and the opportunity to grow into a qualified welder within a supportive manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

- Foundational skills or strong interest in Welding processes, including arc Welding and general Welding techniques.
- Ability or willingness to learn specific processes such as MIG Welding and TIG Welding for steel, aluminium, and stainless steel.
- Basic understanding of Materials used in metal fabrication, including safe handling and identification of different metals.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safe operating procedures.
- Ability to read or learn to interpret basic technical drawings and measurements, with good attention to detail.
- Robust work ethic, reliability, and readiness to follow instructions and work as part of a diverse team.
- Physical capacity to perform manual handling tasks and stand for extended periods in a workshop environment.
- Completion or ongoing participation in a relevant vocational course or apprenticeship program in welding or metal fabrication is beneficial.
