Assistant Supervisor Cleaning

Lead a dedicated cleaning team and help keep Canning's community facilities, toilets and public spaces clean, safe and welcoming.

About the role

Reporting to the Coordinator Facilities Operations, you'll lead a team of 12 (6 Senior Cleaners and 6 Cleaners), including our cleaning truck crew, across the City's facilities and public amenities. You'll plan and allocate the day's work, run pre-start safety briefings, inspect sites to make sure they meet our standards and respond quickly to urgent cleaning requests from the community.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll spend time out on site, step in on cleaning runs when needed, and support your team to work safely and do their best work.

A snapshot of your new role:

- Plan, allocate and oversee daily cleaning across multiple sites
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks, and act on any issues
- Manage staff attendance, timesheets and cover for absences
- Order consumables and manage cleaning equipment and chemical storage (including ChemAlert)
- Make sure your team follows safe work procedures and uses PPE and chemicals correctly
- Onboard and train new team members

What you will bring to the role:

- Experience leading or supervising cleaning teams in a multi-site or large facilities environment
- Certificate III in Cleaning Operations
- Strong knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, chemicals and workplace safety
- The ability to motivate a team, manage priorities and keep standards high
- Good communication and customer service skills, and confidence using Outlook, Word and Excel
- Completed Chemical Handling and Manual Handling training
- Current First Aid Certificate and C Class driver's licence
- A National Police Clearance (or the ability to obtain one)

Highly regarded: Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or in Work Health and Safety, a White Card, and experience with quality inspections and audits.
