Role Purpose: .
The HR Manager – Australia is responsible for providing hands-on HR operational support and strategic HR partnership , ensuring the Australian business has a responsive, well-organised and commercially focused local HR function.
The role owns day-to-day HR operations and the end-to-end employee lifecycle across Head Office and the retail / Beauty Advisor (BA) network, while providing practical HR advice across employee relations, recruitment, performance, compliance and employee engagement.
The role works closely with the Regional Lead, Talent Business Partner on strategic HR direction, talent priorities, governance and complex or higher-risk matters.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. HR Administration, Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations
- Own the day-to-day HR administration for the Australian business, ensuring HR processes are accurate, timely and consistently executed across Head Office, retail and BA populations.
- Own the end-to-end employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through to employee changes, transfers, promotions and exits.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, HRIS data, employment contracts and personnel files.
- Manage employee movements, leave, benefits, changes to employment conditions and other employment-related administration.
- Prepare and maintain employment contracts, letters, variations and other HR documentation as required.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding for Head Office, retail and BA employees, including documentation, systems access, payroll and relevant stakeholder coordination.
- Manage payroll inputs, payroll changes and employee data validation, working closely with Shared Services to support accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR administration and employee queries, ensuring matters are resolved promptly or appropriately escalated.
- Maintain HR calendars and key employment milestones, including probation, fixed-term contracts, leave, performance reviews and other required actions.
- Ensure HR documentation, processes and employee records are maintained in accordance with Australian employment requirements and company policies.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve HR administration and processes, particularly within a lean operating environment.
- Ensure HR matters have clear ownership and are followed through to completion with strong attention to detail and timely communication.
2. HR Business Partnering & Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted local HR partner to the Country MD,
managers and employees across the Australian business.
- Provide practical and timely HR advice on day-to-day people matters, balancing employee experience, business requirements and HR governance.
- Provide first-level advice and support on performance, probation, conduct, attendance, workplace issues and employee relations .
- Manage routine employee relations matters independently, recognising potential risks and escalating complex or higher-risk matters appropriately.
- Coach and support managers in effective people management while maintaining clear accountability with the business for managing its people.
- Support formal performance, disciplinary and misconduct processes where appropriate.
- Partner with the Regional Lead, Talent Business Partner on complex ER matters, significant employee risk, senior employee matters and matters requiring specialist or legal advice.
3. Recruitment, Talent & Development
- Manage end-to-end recruitment in partnership with hiring managers, from role approval and sourcing through to offer and onboarding.
- Provide practical recruitment advice to managers, including role requirements, candidate assessment and selection.
- Support workforce planning and headcount management in line with business requirements and approved budgets.
- Maintain appropriate recruitment and workforce records and reporting.
- Support performance management, talent review, planning and employee development initiatives in partnership with the Regional Lead, Talent Business Partner.
- Coordinate local learning and development activities and ensure relevant training requirements are delivered effectively.
- Provide local insight into capability, retention, development and talent needs.
- Support initiatives that strengthen employee capability and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture.
4. Australian HR Compliance, Governance & Risk
- Maintain strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES) and applicable Modern Awards .
- Support the business in applying employment practices, policies and processes consistently and appropriately.
- Monitor relevant changes in Australian employment legislation and communicate implications to relevant stakeholders.
- Support compliance across employment documentation, employee lifecycle processes, leave, working arrangements and other HR practices.
- Coordinate workers' compensation and workplace injury matters, working with relevant managers, employees, insurers and external parties as required.
- Support parental leave and other statutory employment requirements.
- Maintain appropriate HR documentation and records to support compliance and governance.
- Identify potential HR risks early and provide appropriate first-level advice and escalation.
- Work with the Regional Lead, Talent Business Partner and external advisers where matters require specialist employment law or risk advice.
5. Employee Engagement & Continuous Improvement
- Build trusted relationships across Head Office and the retail / BA network and provide an accessible local HR presence.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, HR communications and local people activities.
- Promote a positive and supportive employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee experience and ways of working.
- Review and streamline HR processes where appropriate to improve efficiency, consistency and responsiveness.
- Support the implementation of regional HR initiatives and ensure appropriate local execution.
- Provide regular feedback and insight to the Regional Lead, Talent Business Partner and Country MD on emerging people issues, trends and business needs.
- Contribute to a positive One Team culture and support LUXASIA's values and people agenda.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Typically 4-6 years of broad HR experience across HR Generalist, HRBP roles, with the capability to independently manage day-to-day HR in a lean business environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, NES and applicable Modern Awards.
- Demonstrated experience across the full employee lifecycle, including HR administration, recruitment, onboarding, employee changes, leave, performance, employee relations and exit.
- Hands-on experience managing HRIS, employee records, employment documentation and payroll inputs.
- Practical experience in employee relations, performance management, conduct and workplace matters, with sound judgement around escalation.
- Experience working in a lean HR team, standalone HR role or environment where HR professionals are expected to manage both advisory and administrative responsibilities directly.
- Experience supporting corporate and frontline / retail or field-based employees would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust across different levels of the organisation.
- Highly organised, responsive and detail-oriented, with strong ownership and follow-through.
- The ability to work independently and effectively in a lean, fast-paced workplace.
- A pragmatic, organized and solutions-focused approach, with a genuine focus on employee experience
- A relevant degree or equivalent combination of education and professional HR experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and more.
