Your Role |

As a Department Assistant, you’ll be a key support to the Department and play an important part in the day-to-day success of the BDFM team.

You’ll help keep the department running smoothly, support your teammates on the floor, and ensure our displays are fresh, full and inviting — all while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and working closely with people.

What you’ll be doing |

- Supporting the daily operations of the Bakery, Dairy, Freezer and Meals department
- Delivering warm, knowledgeable and efficient customer service
- Managing stock levels, rotation and replenishment (especially fresh and perishable products)
- Creating attractive, well-stocked displays that drive sales
- Monitoring quality, freshness and food safety standards
- Ensuring policies, procedures and safety standards are followed at all times
- Jumping in wherever needed to keep the department flowing during busy periods

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

- Have experience in a retail, fresh food or supermarket environment
- Understand food handling and stock rotation principles (particularly perishables)
- Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
- Can prioritise tasks and stay organised in a fast-paced environment
- Take initiative and solve problems quickly
- Have strong attention to detail and presentation

Your Attributes | We’re looking for someone who is:

- Comfortable working in cold environments
- Available for 7am starts where required and 7pm finishes (primarily on Thursdays) where required
- Reliable and proactive
- Friendly, approachable and customer-focused
- Hands-on and not afraid to roll up their sleeves
- Positive with a genuine team-first attitude
- Versatile with availability (including early mornings, weekends and peak trade periods)
- Proud of keeping a clean, protected and organised workspace
