The Ugly Mug is a new grab-and-go coffee shop on Princes Highway, Sylvania, a stone's throw from Tom Uglys Bridge. We opened in late September and our busiest hours are before most of the Shire is awake: tradies, commuters and early starters who want a great coffee, made quick and made right.

We're after an experienced barista to own the machine, keep the coffee consistent from the first cup to the last, and help shape how our bar runs.

The role

- Run the bar through the early-morning rush on our La Marzocco Linea PB
- Dial in each morning and adjust the grinder through the shift as conditions change
- Pour consistent, well-textured milk and clean latte art, even with a queue out the door
- Open the shop and run the shift alongside one other crew member
- Help train newer crew on coffee basics
- Keep the bar clean, stocked and organised, and close down properly for the next shift
- Greet regulars by name and make first-timers want to come back

Shifts & start

- Monday to Friday early-morning starts, finished by early afternoon

- Around 2–4 shifts a week to start, with room to grow; Saturdays are coming
- Start immediately, with time on the bar alongside our senior barista to learn the setup
