ABOUT THE ROLE:
Bass Coast Shire Council are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Biodiversity Conservation Officer to join our Sustainable Environment team. Reporting to the Coordinator Environmental Program Delivery, this role plays a key part in delivering conservation programs that improve biodiversity, support sustainable land management, and strengthen environmental outcomes across Bass Coast.
In this rewarding role, you will:
- Lead and deliver biodiversity and conservation programs across the municipality.
- Work with rural landholders, community groups, government agencies and stakeholders to improve environmental outcomes.
- Coordinate pest plant and animal management initiatives and promote best-practice land management.
- Provide technical advice and education on biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management.
- Identify and secure grant funding opportunities to support environmental projects.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on program outcomes and environmental impacts.
- Contribute to Council's Climate Emergency Action Plan and broader environmental priorities.
A BIT ABOUT YOU:
You will bring
- Qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation, agriculture or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Knowledge and experience in biodiversity conservation and pest plant and animal management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage projects and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.
