CFWA supports 42 member leagues, around 250 clubs and approximately 23,000 registered players across regional Western Australia.
About the role
As a volunteer Director, you will contribute to CFWA’s governance and strategic direction. Key duties include:
- Setting priorities and monitoring organisational performance.
- Reviewing budgets, finances, risks and policies.
- Supporting and overseeing the Executive Manager.
- Preparing for and participating in Board meetings.
- Serving on a Board committee or working group.
- Engaging with regional football communities.
- Maintaining confidentiality and managing conflicts of interest.
Directors act in the interests of CFWA as a whole. Day-to-day operations are managed by staff.
Who we are looking for
We welcome experience in governance, finance, risk, legal matters, sponsorship, marketing, community development, people management or technology.
You will need sound judgement, integrity, a cooperative approach and the ability to review financial information and contribute to informed decisions.
Previous Board experience is not essential. First-time Directors and people from diverse backgrounds and regions are encouraged to apply.
Time commitment and benefits
Allow approximately 100–150 hours per year, including at least six Board meetings, meeting preparation, committee participation, the AGM, an annual strategy session and occasional regional travel or weekend events. Meetings are held online and in person.
Elected Directors serve a two-year term. Office holders and committee chairs require additional time.
This is an unpaid position. CFWA provides induction, Director development support, Directors and Officers liability insurance, and reimbursement of reasonable travel and accommodation expenses incurred on CFWA business.
Your contribution will help strengthen competitions, support volunteers and create opportunities for football communities across regional WA.
How to apply
Applicants must be aged 18 or over and meet CFWA’s eligibility requirements. Anyone holding a formal league or club position must resign from that role before taking office.
For elected positions, nominations require consent, a relevant skills and experience statement, an eligibility declaration and endorsement from a CFWA member league. Candidates are also asked to hold or obtain a Working with Children Check and consent to a National Police Check.
Nominations close 22nd October.
