This is not your standard bookkeeping role.

We’re partnering with a highly regarded boutique accounting and financial services firm looking for an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to take ownership of an established bookkeeping function.

You’ll still understand the technical work inside out but your real value will be in what happens around it: leading people, managing client relationships, improving processes, overseeing delivery and creating a bookkeeping function that runs exceptionally well.

If you’re an experienced bookkeeper who has reached the point where you want to lead rather than simply process, this could be a brilliant next move.

The Role

Sitting in a key position within the business, you’ll act as the primary point of contact between bookkeeping clients and the wider accounting team while overseeing both onshore and offshore resources.

You’ll have genuine ownership of the function, including:

- Managing and developing the bookkeeping team, including offshore staff
- Acting as the key liaison for clients – answering queries, providing updates and resolving issues
- Reviewing workflows, allocating work and ensuring deadlines and service standards are consistently met
- Developing and implementing bookkeeping policies, procedures and best practice
- Managing team performance and KPIs
- Overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping including accounts payable/receivable, bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Preparing and reviewing BAS and GST reconciliations
- Managing payroll,



superannuation and payroll tax requirements
- Monitoring lodgement deadlines and compliance requirements
- Preparing tailored management reports for clients
- Assisting clients with budgeting and financial forecasting
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and technology
- Working closely with the accounting teams to identify opportunities where bookkeeping services can add further value to clients
- Assisting with the onboarding of current bookkeeping clients and helping continue to grow the division

Who We're Looking For We’re looking for someone who knows bookkeeping exceptionally well, but equally importantly, knows how to manage people and clients.

You’ll likely bring substantial experience within bookkeeping/accounting environments and be comfortable taking responsibility for multiple client accounts simultaneously.

Ideally, you’ll have:

- Extensive bookkeeping experience, with previous experience leading or managing a team
- Strong technical knowledge across BAS, GST, payroll, superannuation and reconciliations
- Experience working with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB and/or QuickBooks




- Confidence managing client relationships and communicating with a range of stakeholders
- Experience managing, mentoring or coordinating offshore team members highly regarded
- Excellent organisation and deadline management skills
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy
- A Certificate or Diploma in Bookkeeping/Accounting or similar qualification
