We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsman with hands-on experience using Autodesk Inventor to join our client's engineering and manufacturing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate 2D engineering drawings and 3D models, developing fabrication and manufacturing drawings, and collaborating with engineers and production teams to ensure designs meet project specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Applicants must have practical experience with Autodesk Inventor and a robust understanding of engineering drawings, mechanical components, and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
- Prepare detailed fabrication, manufacturing, and workshop drawings.
- Develop component designs, sheet metal parts, and mechanical assemblies as required.
- Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, measurements, and design concepts.
- Produce detailed drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and relevant technical notes.
- Revise drawings and models based on engineering feedback and design changes.
- Ensure drawings comply with relevant Australian Standards and applicable engineering requirements.
- Liaise with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and production personnel to resolve design issues.
- Maintain accurate drawing records, revisions,
and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs are practical, accurate, and suitable for manufacturing and fabrication.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Draftsman, Mechanical Draftsman, or CAD Draftsman.
- Proven hands-on experience using Autodesk Inventor is essential.
- Strong skills in 3D modelling, assembly modelling, and 2D drawing production.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing methods, and fabrication processes.
- Good knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and technical drafting practices.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an engineering team.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Drafting, or a related field.
- Experience in steel fabrication, structural steel, sheet metal, or general manufacturing.
- Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD and other CAD software.
- Experience preparing workshop drawings, cutting lists, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Knowledge of Australian engineering and drafting standards.
Pay: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour Expected hours: 38.0 per week
