About the role

Southern Meat Co is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Cashier to join our team in Lalor VIC. This is a casual position that offers flexibility while playing a vital role in delivering exceptional service to our customers. As a Cashier, you will be the final point of contact for our customers, ensuring smooth transactions and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere at our retail location.

This role is essential to our operations, directly impacting customer satisfaction and our reputation as a trusted local business.

What you'll be doing

- Processing customer purchases accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system
- Handling cash, card payments, and other payment methods with precision and security
- Providing friendly and professional customer service to all shoppers
- Assisting with bagging and packaging of products to meet customer requirements
- Maintaining a clean and organised checkout area
- Answering customer enquiries about products and pricing
- Processing refunds and exchanges in accordance with store policies
- Supporting the retail team with general store duties as required
- Monitoring stock levels at the checkout and reporting issues to management
- Preferred Language Italian, Greek and Macedonian, but not essential

What we're looking for

- Previous experience as a cashier or in a retail environment is desirable but not essential
- Strong numeracy skills and accuracy when handling cash and payments
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods




- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy
- Customer service experience demonstrating patience and problem-solving abilities
- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied shifts as required
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems is advantageous
