We are working with Synapse Australia who is looking for its next Board Chair to lead an experienced and committed Board of directors in stewarding Australia’s Brain Injury Organisation.

About Synapse Australia

When Alwyn Ricci founded Synapse (then Headway) thirty-five years ago, it was to make a genuine and practical difference to the lives of people impacted by brain injury and disability. This same passion and commitment continue to drive us forward today.

As Australia’s Brain Injury Organisation, we are proud of our leading brain injury knowledge which underpins everything we do to support Australians with brain injury and disability, their carers and family members. Our functions include advocacy & education as well as providing support services such as specialist housing.

About the Role





As Board Chair you will lead the Board to function effectively and efficiently in its oversight of the organisation; foster a culture aligned with Synapse Australia’s values; work closely with the CEO conveying the Board’s expectations and represent the organisation with key strategic stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

· Prior experience as a board chair or deputy chair is highly regarded

· AICD qualification or similar

· Lived experience of caring for or supporting someone with a brain injury or disability The Commitment The Board meets in person up to 8 times per year and attendance is also required at the AGM and any committee meetings where relevant.
